SommSnap ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("SommSnap" or the "App").

By using SommSnap, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

1. Personal Information

Phone Number: We require your phone number for SMS-based authentication. This allows you to securely access your account and sync your wine preferences across devices. Your phone number is stored securely with Firebase Authentication and is used as your unique identifier.

2. Wine Data and Preferences

We collect and store:

• Scan History: Wine lists, bottles, shelves, and party scans you perform
• Wine Preferences: Your saved favorites, ratings, and taste preferences
• Dining Companion Profiles: Names and wine preferences of companions you create
• Location Data (Optional): If you grant permission, we use your location to detect venues and provide location-based recommendations. You can disable this in iOS Settings at any time.

3. Camera and Photos

Camera Access: SommSnap requires camera access to scan wine lists, bottles, and shelves. Images are processed on your device to extract text (OCR). Photos are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted to our servers. Only the extracted text is sent for AI analysis.

4. Usage Data

We automatically collect:

• App usage statistics (features used, scan counts)
• Device information (model, iOS version, app version)
• Crash reports and performance data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
• Analytics data (via Firebase Analytics)

5. Subscription and Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card or payment information. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide personalized wine recommendations
• To authenticate your account and enable cross-device sync
• To improve our AI recommendation engine
• To provide customer support

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, a Google Cloud service. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide and improve SommSnap:

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data with:

• Service Providers: Firebase, Anthropic, and Apple as described above, solely to provide app functionality
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new entity

Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: View all your personal data stored in the app
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@mojibake.ai
• Correction: Update or correct your wine preferences and companion profiles in the app
• Export: Request an export of your wine history and data
• Location Control: Enable/disable location services in iOS Settings → SommSnap
• Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from promotional emails (though we rarely send them)

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

International Users

SommSnap is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that information we collect will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. By using SommSnap, you consent to this transfer.

GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

CCPA Compliance (California Users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

SommSnap is intended for users 18 years of age and older (21+ in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
